Time to heal

            Holding on to something that had happened a long time ago may be the choice that’s left. Reliving the past may be the only way to escape the pain. But is really living for the past the solution?

                Every life story has a dark side. It may be a death of a loved one, a breakup, a divorce, or a loss of friendship. But these things are just temporary. These things happen because something better is on their way. Yes, it may be hard to believe but all things happen for a reason. And these things are part of a great plan. So why bother on living in the shadows of the past when we can all live happily in the now? Well, the answer for that is simply: it is the only way to avoid PAIN.

                Many people have lost their minds in trying to escape reality. Instead of embracing what’s to happen, they chose to hold on and relive what once were happy days. And so, they lost the chance to be start all over again. They were stuck with no idea of how to move forward.

                I’ve heard a real life story about a young lady who gave her present and future to a man who only hurt her in return.

                Megan was a model and she was in love with a painter, Carlo. Carlo was very interested to have Megan as one of her subjects and so he asked her to come with him to Sierra Madre. Megan agreed to that and she promised herself to seize that chance to make Carlo fall for her.

                During their stay in the mountains, Megan’s beauty was copied to Carlo’s canvasses. And with every painting done, Megan grew deeply in love with him. Carlo noticed that Megan resembles his ex- girlfriend so he was also interested in having a relationship with Megan.

               

 After the trip, Megan and Carlo lived together. They were happy for some time until one day, Carlo’s ex came back. Ines who was still loved by Carlo asked him to marry her, and without even a doubt, he agreed. Megan was devastated after knowing that. She no longer had the will to live because the man he loved left her. She went on with her life but not happily. She relived every moment she had spent with Carlo. But destiny is really a temptress.

                One day, Ines asked her to be her and her husband’s baby maker. Ines is barren. She could not bear a child and since Megan resembles her, it would be ideal to have her as the child’s mother. Without thinking twice, Megan agreed to the deal. She signed the contract and went with Carlo to Sierra Madre where she will be with him until she gets pregnant.

                During their stay in the mountains, Megan felt like she was the happiest woman on earth. Finally, she could spend time with the one she loved. But the day came when reality hit her hard. She became pregnant after two months of spending time with Carlo and Ines knew about it. It was time to go back to the real world.

                Ines made sure that Megan would have no more connections with Carlo after that. The only meeting between her and him would be on the day of the child’s birth which would be nine months from that day. Megan was grieved because she loved the child that’s inside her. She could not bear to part with her son.

                And so she escaped from the grip of Ines. She left her apartment and went home to her province. Every single day was agony. Yes she is pregnant and the baby’s father was not with her. The emotional pain was excruciating. Again for months, she relived the times she spent with Carlo. She would pretend that he was with her, comforting her through her pregnancy. She would imagine that Carlo would lie beside her during the cold nights that he would touch her now enormous tummy where their baby is. Every single day, she would fantasize and every single day made the pain she felt worse. It was slowly making her insane.  And after nine months of suffering, she gave birth to a son.

                It was then that she realized that Carlo would never be with her. He would loathe her because of what she did and if she would show herself to him, he would sue her because she never stood on their contract. The realization hit her hard. She then promised herself to move on and live for herself and her unknowing child.

                Three months from then, she was looking for a job in the town when she had an encounter with Carlo. He recognized her and chased her but she was too afraid to show herself. She cried after seeing that her son looked the same as his father.

                Carlo looked for Megan. Ines died of cancer and it was then that he realized that it was pity that made him marry her. He was long in love with Megan and it was a big mistake to have left her. He looked for her and finally after a long time of searching, he finally found her. He said that he would ask for her forgiveness and be a father to their child.

                For months, Megan had been living in her past but now that her happiness lies within her reaches. It is time to move on and live for the future.

                It is true the past affected the present that is now. But although the past may have triggered the good and bad things that happened, happens and will happen, it would still be our decisions that would make us who we are in the future. We should not live on our pasts. We should take the time to move                                                                                       on and face the gift of a bright tomorrow.
